Training Session Overview:
This two-hour training session is an introduction to the new learning management system, Canvas, at RMIT University. It will provide course coordinators and course owners with the opportunity to build a course in Canvas and develop a consistent and accessible online experience for our students.
The session is part of implementing the Learning and Teaching Framework and supports developing knowledge and skills in delivering education in an online environment.
The aim of this session is to introduce course coordinators and course owners to the fundamentals needed to build a Canvas course, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to meet the minimum standards of course delivery in Canvas at RMIT. This training session covers:
- Basic course development using Canvas essential functionality and navigation
- Developing assignments for practical teaching
- Using communication tools to create meaningful dialogue with students
- Implementing a narrative for your course content
Learning Outcomes:
After attending training, you will be able to:
- Develop skills in Canvas by building your courses in Canvas
- Utilise the affordances offered in Canvas for your course delivery
- Achieved a step-by-step process for addressing the threshold standards
- Contribute to the implementation of RMIT’s learning and teaching framework
Who should attend?
This training session is only available to staff who are responsible for developing a course. This includes any course coordinators or course owners in Higher Education and Vocational Education. Please ensure you have Canvas access to the course you are coordinating.
