Event Details

Building a Respectful Community Partnership Unconscious Knowledge Training

Unconscious knowledge exerts a strong influence on everyday judgments, decisions and behaviours which can lead to biased responses that negatively impact decision making. Helping organisations to recognise, understand and mitigate the effects of unconscious knowledge both at an individual and organisational level is critical in allowing organisations and leaders to make better decisions that will drive gender equality work and improve organisational performance.

WHIN is offering a pilot program designed to provide participants with a greater understanding of the concept of unconscious knowledge of gender, which is complementary to organisational development to increase workplace gender equity. After the pilot program, participants may consider whether their organisation would benefit from further training in this area.

This training package includes the following for each participant:

  • An online Unconscious Knowledge Assessment
  • A face-to-face ‘Introduction to Unconscious Knowledge’ session presented by Jennifer Jones from Cognicity.
  • Registration for up to two of Cognicity’s Unconscious Knowledge Learning Modules – General Course, Mitigating Bias in Selection Decisions or Decision Making and Bias – a Guide for Leaders

Registrations are open for two individuals from each Building a Respectful Community (BRC) Partnership organisation. WHIN recommends a combination of preventing violence against women/gender equity staff, and human resources or executive staff.
