Description

BUILD YOUR AUTHOR WEBSITE IN A DAY

with Kylie Fennell

Walk away from this workshop with a published website.

Create an online presence for your writing and author brand, whether you’re just starting out or already published. No technical or website experience needed. At the end of this workshop, you will have a live wordpress.com website.

Participants will need to bring their own laptop, plus a bio or any other information about themselves and their writing that can be used on their website. It will also be beneficial if they have a digital image of themselves, such as a headshot, that can be used as a profile image on their website.

Learning Outcomes

You will receive step-by-step instructions to set-up your own dedicated website, using the free Wordpress.com platform. Specifically, you will learn how to do the following:

  • Design an effective author website

  • Choose and customise a template to suit your brand

  • Create pages for your website

  • Upload and insert images on your website

  • Start blogging via your website

  • Include social media links

  • Offer a subscribe option

  • Integrate with an e-news mailing list

  • Populate content for a Home/About Me page(s)

  • Publish your site so it’s live

  • Learn how to easily convert your site to a custom domain and/or a self-hosted Wordpress website if needed in the future

Format

This is a workshop for intermediate to emerging writers looking to engage their readership. More information on program formats and level definitions can be found here.
