BTech Tech Discussion Group March: The Cost of Technology

BTech Tech Discussion Group March: The Cost of Technology

Burnside LibraryTusmore, SA
Thursday, Mar 12 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm ACDT
Overview

Come and dive into the true cost of technology this March!

Every time we flick a light switch, turn on a computer, purchase a new technology, or ask a chat bot a question, there are a number of costs we must consider. From the environmental impacts of gigantic data centres, the production of energy from fossil fuels, rare mineral mining for the circuit boards in our devices, and the erosion of the social conscience through the conforming pipeline of AI.

The Cost of Technology is our topic for March, so come join us in the library to take part in the discussion and delve deeper into these moral and ethical conundrums. With guidance from our Digital Literacy Officer, this open forum is the perfect place to voice opinions, debate differences, and tease out the details of these tricky subjects that face us in the modern world.

Keep an eye out as each month we will tackle a different topic as we explore the world of modern technology.

Please note: This not a tech support session.
If you are looking for tech support, please see our weekly Tech Help sessions.
If you are over 50 and interested in computer skills education, please see our fortnightly Digital Skills Training.

This group is suitable for adults over 18 years.

Tea and Coffee available.
