A flexible board development program for the board and committee members

About this Event


This program delivers essential board and committee member training and development over a flexible online digitally delivered programs with a experienced GAICD (Graduate of the Institute of Company Direcors qualified trainer.

The program is delivered over three consequitive weeks for a three hour workshop. All students receive an onboarding prior to commencement and access to lecture videos, virtual study halls and comprehensive training materials.

This program covers the three essential units of the Director Induction Skillset. Participants can choose to attend this as an informal course receiving a Statement of Completion following the workshops or, complete the assessments and obtain a Nationally Recognised BSBSS00039 Director Induction Skillset upon successful completion.

Participants can use these units as credits when enrolling subsequently in a Diploma or Certificate IV in Goverance.

Who should attend

This program delivers essential Director Induction Training. It is suitable for new board and committee members, existing boards looking to develop their board compliance and directors looking for qualifications.

This program consists of three digital workshops. The Program is run once a week for three weeks.

Week 1 Implement Board Member Responsibilities

Week 2 Work within the Organisational Structure

Week 3 Analyse Financial Plans and Budgets.


During this course, participants will develop skills and competency to undertake the following requirements of the Governance Skillset.

BSBGOV401 Implement Board Member Responsibilities

  • Identify business of the organisation
  • Monitor operations
  • Follow legal requirements when carrying out board duties
  • Monitor trends and changes in community
  • Receive and act on community and stakeholder feedback

BSBGOV402 Work within the Organisation Structure

  • Differentiate roles and responsibilities
  • Document management roles and responsibilities
  • Supervise management of the organisation

BSBGOV403 Analyse Financial Reports and Budgets

  • Review financial reports and budgets
  • Monitor revenue and expenditure against budget
  • Finalise budget

About the Trainer

Miranda is a principal consultant and program designer at Learning Partnerships and an experienced Director and GAICD. (Graduate of the Institute of Company Direcotors.

Miranda is an advocate for business growth and development locally in Townsville and North Queensland. Her areas of Expertise include: Innovation and Strategy, Business and Leadership, Governance and Risk Management, Ideation and System Design Principles, Training Program Development, Education and Skills Development, Small to Medium Enterprise

She is a Queensland Government Mentoring for Growth Mentor, Mentor for the Learning Partnerships SME Alliance Program, Governance Consultant and Trainer/

She is a currently serving board member of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce, a Townsville Regional Committee Member for the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has held several past board positions including Chairman of Securus Global at the time of IPO.

Miranda’s areas of specialty are strategy, ideation, value creation, innovation and business process reengineering. She has 25 years’ experience in startups, business ownership, selling businesses, mergers and acquisitions.
