Overview

BRIX @ CRUSH After hours tour of the new Exhibition - with featured Artist Bek Larkin. BYO event - with food provided .

Get Ready for BRIX @ CRUSH!

The Brix Exhibition is coming to Crush @Gordonvale for one exclusive after-hours session. Join us this on Friday the 13th for a private tour limited to just 15 guests. Our curator will walk you through the minds of our exhibiting Artits.

The lineup features two heavyweights of the Australian art scene, whose inclusion signals the gallery's serious ambition:

  • Grace Lillian Lee: A powerhouse in the fashion and art world, Lee is celebrated for her "woven body sculptures" that fuse contemporary fashion with traditional Torres Strait Islander weaving. Her work has been acquired by major institutions like the National Gallery of Victoria, and as the founder of First Nations Fashion + Design, she has carved a stellar career empowering Indigenous designers on a global stage.
  • Elverina Johnson: A highly respected Gurugulu and Indinji Gimuy woman from Yarrabah, Johnson is a creative force with a 30-year career. A playwright, photographer, and the 2017 National NAIDOC Artist of the Year, she uses her art to preserve culture and challenge narratives, making her one of the region’s most important voices.
  • Rob Dupear: The gallery founder brings a formidable visual pedigree to the exhibition. A director with a 40-year career in film and television, Dupear is now channeling that cinematic experience into fine art. As an emerging artist, he has quickly developed a distinctive, bold style that reflects a lifetime of framing the perfect shot.
  • Francoise Lane: A textile designer and interior creative, Lane (of Indij Design) is the former Artistic Director of the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF). Her work frequently translates the patterns of the rainforest and reef into stunning visual narratives.
  • Shaneen Fantin: Known primarily as a socially engaged architect, Fantin brings a unique structural and spatial perspective to the show. Her career has been dedicated to Indigenous housing and design that respects the cultural landscape.
  • Bek Larkin: Larkin’s work is perhaps the most literally grounded in the "fertile" theme. A visual artist who often utilizes earth, ash, and jute in her pieces, she explores the layers of memory and history embedded in the land itself.
  • Nicolette Worth: The creative engine behind Gordonvale’s "Tropica Store and Studio," Worth is a mixed-media artist and designer who has turned her pursuit of art into a community service, offering creative support and a space for others to grow.

This is a BYO evening, so feel free to bring your favorite delicious beverages; we will provide the crystal glassware, a premium botanical mixer bar, and a gourmet grazing table. Your ticket includes a private guided floor talk from our curator.
