Brisbane Stepping Forward Session: Stages of Change for Families
Overview
Is someone in your family or a friend using alcohol and/or other drugs?
Are you looking for practical, down-to-earth support and information?
Join us for a free, 2-hour Stepping Forward workshop, designed especially for families and friends impacted by someone’s substance use. This session is suitable for anyone seeking support - whether or not your family member is currently attending Avive.
In a safe and supportive space, connect with others who are facing similar challenges. This session will give an overview of Family Drug Support (FDS) and explore:
🔹 Stages of Change – understanding the process of change for people using substances
🔹 The Family’s Stages of Change – recognising your own journey and emotional responses
🔹 Communication strategies – to help you cope, build resilience and feel more empowered
Presented by FDS – a national, non-religious, not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting families for over 28 years.
Each Stepping Forward session is practical, informative and uplifting. Whether this is your first session or you’ve attended before, you’ll walk away with new insights and something meaningful to support you on your journey.
