Bring It On! Youth Fest - Photography Workshops

Free workshop series on Photography for young people aged 12-24. Join the Bring It On! Crew!

Fairfield City Council and Legacy Studios present a free 5-week event photography workshop series at PYT Fairfield. DINNER PROVIDED!

What you learn:

This free workshop series is being presented by Western Sydney born and raised artist Ignacio Rojas of Legacy Studios and will take place at our one-of-a-kind local youth theatre space, PYT Fairfield!

The workshops will give you a taster of what it's like to be an event photograher at a real life Youth Week festival. During each of the 5 weeks you learn different aspects of content creation including:

• Get to know your gear - operating a DSLR camera, using kit and prime lenses and understanding exposure
• Basics in event photography - how to frame, account for light, picking your shots
• Managing a shoot - learn how professionals plan their "work flow", a day in the life of a professional photographer when out on a gig
• Getting ready for the big day - help support a professional photographer (your mentor) capture a real-life event

This workshop is part of Fairfield City Council's biggest Youth Week program, Bring It On! At the end of the workshops, you'll have the opportunity to join the Bring It On! Photography Crew and help Ignacio capture the key moments of the Bring It On! Youth Festival on Sunday 19 April 2026. It's not just about theory - these workshops are about doing it in real life!

Workshop and Festival Dates:

Sessions run Tuesdays, 5:30pm-7:30pm at PYT Fairfield (Fairfield School of Arts, 19 Harris St, Fairfield) 17 March to 14 April 2026.

The workshops will build up towards the Bring It On! Festival at the Fairfield Showground during Youth Week

• Session 1: 17 March 2026
• Session 2: 24 March 2026
• Session 3: 31 March 2026
• Session 4: 7 April 2026
• Session 5: 14 April 2026
• Bring It On! Festival: Sunday 19 April 2026 (2pm-8pm) at Fairfield Showground

Who can register?

• To register for the workshops, you must be aged between 12-24. These workshops are best for skill levels ranging from beginner to intermediate.
• As part of Fairfield City Council's local Youth Week program, these workshops are open to people living in and around the Fairfield City area. Priority will be given to those living in a suburb in the Fairfield Local Government Area.

About the Bring It On! Youth Festival:

The Bring It On! Youth Festival is Fairfield City's annual major Youth Week event celebrating young people aged 12-24. It features local musicians, dance, competitions, activities, rides, games, food, stalls and more. It is driven by young people aged 12-24 in Fairfield City & the Fairfield Youth Advisory Committee and has been running since 2003.
