Shelter Tas is very excited to continue our schedule of targeted, capacity building training opportunities with Brief Interventions Masterclass. This face2face training will be facilitated by Drug Education Network (DEN) Educator, Dave Reynolds.

Following on for our Online session on Meeting People at Their Stage of Change, the Brief Interventions Masterclass offers advanced skill in performing Brief Interventions in an evidence-based, ethical manner.

The session will cover the following topics:

  • Methodology, evidence and impact of brief interventions;
  • How people change, react to stress, learn and reinforce skills, form habits and addictions;
  • Increased skills in providing Very Brief Interventions based on best practice evidence;
  • Increased skills and understanding of stage-matching and providing stage-matched interventions

About the Training

This half day training will equip housing and homelessness professionals with the skills and resources to advance their professional practice. The Brief Interventions Masterclass offers an interactive, evidence-based opportunity to build knowledge and skills to identify the most effective response for meeting consumers at their stage of change. Brief Interventions are effective and low-cost interventions with potentially long-lasting outcomes for health behaviour change. The session will embed the best practice tools, resources and strategies as well as the invaluable reflection and discussion that face2face training with peers offers.
