Gardening is good for people of all ages. When we plant indigenous or locally-evolved species of seedlings then its also really good for native wildlife.

Come along to this Hume City Council supported planting at Bridgewater Lake Retirement Estate to help create a wildlife habitat garden, around an ancient River Red Gum. There is a variety of seedlings to plant, including shrubs, wildflowers, grasses and groundcovers. The good news - the holes will be dug for you!

What's provided

  • Gloves.
  • Sunscreen.
  • All the planting tools and materials.
  • Drinking water, tea and coffee.
  • Afternoon tea will be provided.
  • Hard copies of the Birds of Hume and Fauna of Hume will be available at the event, or find digital versions at Discover Nature in Hume.

What to bring

  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring a rain/wind-proof jacket.
  • Wear safe, fully-enclosed walking shoes.
  • Bring your own reusable drink bottle.
