Event description

Description

Join artist Ana Paula Estrada for the launch of I was there (vol. I and II), a set of two limited edition artist books.

For the last seven years Estrada’s practice has focused on the documentation of life stories of older Australians by combining photography and oral history through the medium of the artist book. I was there tells the life stories of two unrelated older Brisbane residents; Kevin and Esta, with whom Estrada has developed close friendships with through regular visits.

I was there documents conversations with Kevin and Esta, highlighting the voices and experiences of older members of our communities, while seeking to preserve important oral traditions and informal knowledge.

The publications will be introduced by Dr. Tim Mosely (Lecturer in Fine Art, Queensland College of Art), with copies available to purchase from the Gallery Shop. Find out more on the IMA wesbite here.
