About this event

  • 1 day 2 hours

Learning to blog effectively brings together many great benefits such as knowing how to write in an engaging manner for broader audiences, focused networking, participating in (and even leading!) conversations around your areas of expertise, and developing clarity around your research purpose.

This intensive is comprised of two workshops across two days (from 1:00-2:30 pm each day). We take you through the basics of blogging and features hands-on blog writing, planning, and the chance to discuss your ideas.

The first workshop in the ‘Blogging your research’ program introduces participants to the idea of blogging, why researchers do it, and its key benefits. The session features activities that allow you to think through your blogging ideas and draft a blogpost and we'll also talk about what it means to manage a blog vs the option of being a 'guest blogger'.

The second workshop will provide you with structured time to build on what you took away from the first day and work on your potential blog or blogpost. What would your blog look like? Or what existing blogs might house a guest post from you? What kind of audience or readership do you want to reach? And what are your next steps from here? All questions that are much easier to muse on with peers in a supportive environment.

Who should attend?

This workshop is intended for La Trobe University researchers.

Researchers from any career stage who are interested in blogging. You do not have to have any blogging experience.
