Blockchain 101: Building Bitcoin (one block at a time!)
Thu. 20 April 2017, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm AEST
Join us for a curated series of blockchain talks. Hear directly from the people creating the future. Each fortnight we feature a different early stage blockchain startup.
Vincent Tran is a Blockchain developer currently serving the banking sector in Australia. He is mostly focused on blockchain based digital identity, smart contracts for trade-finance, and he is a core team member the open-source project Blockchain universal game portal bitfwd.org. Vincent is a UNSW alumni, he graduated with 3 majors: Computer Science, Actuarial (Math), and Commerce (Business School).
What will participants learn?
We'll be covering the basics of blockchain, drawing from the fundamentals that make up one of the longstanding blockchains that exist today (Bitcoin). We will attempt to design a cryptocurrency from scratch, which will hopefully help you understand why Bitcoin was designed the way it was today. Technical details will be present and will be presented in a way that will allow both technical and non technical people to understand. Hopefully by the end, you’ll be able to explain blockchain to your friends too!!!
Check out our previous events and get insight into why Blockchain is so hot right now. Pizza and beer will be provided.
