About this event

Birding & Bushcare at Scheyville National Park

As part of the Cumberland Plain Restoration Program, National Parks and Landcare invite you to join us for a fun-filled morning of birding and bushcare at Scheyville National Park. During the event, we will explore the park's beautiful landscapes and learn about the diverse bird species that call it home. Our experienced guides will provide expert insights into the park's ecology and wildlife, making this a great opportunity for nature enthusiasts and bird lovers. In addition to birding, you also have the opportunity to participate in bushcare activities in the threatened woodland environment of Scheyville National Park. This is a great opportunity to give back to the environment while enjoying a day out in nature.

You can do the birdwatch, brunch and Bushcare - or come along just for the bird watch, or just for the Bushcare... We need to do both on site...

The area has been thinned as part of preparation for an ecoburn, and we want to monitor the birds response to this, as their habitat (mostly bursaria and african olive) has been reduced. This was necessary to bring back a woodland type of ecosystem, which was originally on site and representative of the critically endangered Cumberland Plain Woodland.

Can you help out? If you are a member of any western Sydney birding club we would love to see you on site to help us determine the changes (if any) to the bird population because of the intervention we are doing on site.

We would also love to see anyone skilled in the treatment of African Olive, as there is always so much to work on in this national park.

Not trained or experienced? No problem - all training provided.

BYO hat, water, binoculars (if have them). Gloves provided.
