Birak Cultural Workshops with Koorda's Crew
Join us for these special kid-friendly workshops to celebrate the Noongar season of Birak!
Join us this January for four special drop-in workshops with Koorda's Crew.
Koorda’s Crew shares knowledge of local places in Noongar Country with the children and families who live and play here, so everyone feels a deeper sense of belonging and is inspired to care for Country
Workshop 1: Create a cultural Legoscape and learn about Birak (first summer) - the season of the young. Kids will create a Birak LEGOscape with guidance from a cultural facilitator and with help from their grown-up.
Dates: Friday 9 Jan, Friday 23 Jan.
Workshop 2: Birak is the season when noorns (snakes) are out and about. Kids and their grown-ups will learn about different animal tracks you might see on Country and use paint pens to create beautiful artworks on rocks. Each painted rock will form a small part of one big rock noorn (snake) and artworks can be taken home!
Dates: Friday 16 Jan, Friday 30 Jan.
