Event description

Description

The University of Melbourne is delighted to host the University of Maryland’s Borderless Research Administration Knowledge Exchange (BRAKE).

The BRAKE team takes a unique, proactive approach to overcoming barriers to enhancing international partnerships by dedicating valuable resources to streamlining administrative functions. During their visit, the BRAKE team will provide training on US grant administration, offer advice on best practice in US research administration, and meet with research teams interested in developing bilateral relationships.

We would like to invite our Victorian research administration colleagues to participate in an open workshop with the BRAKE team, concerning best practice in administration for US research funding.

The University of Maryland is ranked 4th in federal research expenditures among all U.S. universities without a medical school. In FY15, the University of Maryland administered 550 million US dollars in research awards, with approximately 60% of funding originating from the US Federal Government. The University of Maryland’s administrative training program, BRAKE, focuses on engaging international institutions as strategic cohorts concentrated on building expertise and collaboration in the management and oversight of U.S. federal funding.
