Bendigo Health AHA CPD: Supporting Patients After Stroke

Overview

Registration is to attend this workshop face-to-face at Bendigo Health

Allied Health Assistants play an important role in partnering with Allied Health Professionals to support patients who have had a stroke. Through the continuum of care, Allied Health Assistants need to be equipped with both knowledge and skills related to stroke rehabilitation and recovery.

This CPD session aims to provide Allied Health Assistant’s with an understanding of the main types of Stroke, and the impact on the different regions of the brain and body. There will be an overview of stroke pathways, and how Allied Health Assistants can provide support under delegation during a person’s stroke journey.

At the end of the session learners will be able to:

1. Identify the difference between different types of Stroke

2. Recognise how a stroke can impact motor, cognitive, and sensory functions based on the different brain regions affected

3. Explore stroke pathways for people in a healthcare and community setting

4. Share knowledge of the role of AHAs in stroke rehabilitation and recovery, including collaboration with Allied Health Professionals.
