Understanding Behaviour: An Introduction to Positive Behaviour Support

Join Behaviour Collaborations for a free, practical community workshop designed to help parents, caregivers and community members better understand children's behaviour and how Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) can help.

During this interactive session, we will explore what behaviour support is, how it works and why understanding the reasons behind behaviour can change the way we respond.

We will discuss:

  • What Positive Behaviour Support is and how it works
  • Understanding behaviour as communication
  • Why behaviours of concern may occur
  • Identifying possible triggers and patterns
  • Understanding what a child may be trying to communicate through their behaviour
  • Practical, positive strategies that can be used at home and in everyday environments
  • Ways to support emotional regulation and develop new skills

The workshop will include practical activities where we work through common situations together and explore different ways of understanding and responding to behaviour.

There will also be time at the end of the session for general questions, discussion and sharing of ideas.

Who can attend?

This workshop is open to anyone in the community who registers, including parents, caregivers, foster and kinship carers, family members and people who support children with disability or developmental differences.

You do not need to be a current Behaviour Collaborations participant.
