Improv QLD was founded in 2004 with the goal of spreading and celebrating the joy of improvised performance and unscripted theatre. From our humble beginnings on pub stages under the banner of ImproMafia, we've grown to become Brisbane’s best-known improvisation company, performing locally and internationally, participating in major festivals, and providing world-class training.

ImproMafia offers workshops for people interested in learning more about the world of improvisation.

This six week beginners course is designed to introduce you to the basics of improvised theatre in a fun and friendly environment. Over the course of the six weeks, participants will be gradually introduced to performing Theatresports games and scenes, and will learn to hit the stage with confidence and playfulness. The classes are suitable for anyone keen on performing impro, as well as those interested in improving their public speaking and creativity or expanding their theatre toolbox.You will learn techniques to:<ul><li> Trust your creative impulses</li><li> Be present and in the moment</li><li> Accept and build on ideas </li><li> Embrace failure</li></ul>All participants will be invited to demonstrate their skills at a graduation show at the end of the workshop.Please note: Our classes are primarily aimed at adults - if you are under 18, let us know and we will confirm if you can attend the class.
