Overview

Beginner-level blacksmithing workshop designed to teach the basic techniques of blacksmithing. Participants will gain hands-on experience

Course Objectives

• Introduce participants to the basics of blacksmithing techniques and safety

practices.

• Provide historical knowledge on blacksmithing and traditional tool-making.

• Develop hands-on skills through forging a complete fire tool set.

• Ensure participants understand workshop safety and proper use of personal

protective equipment (PPE).

Workshop Structure

The blacksmithing workshop will run as a single full-day course, starting at 7:45 AM and

finishing at 3:30 PM, with a one-hour lunch break at 11:00 AM. There will be a total of

four workshop dates held over multiple weeks, with different participants each time.

Each workshop will have a limit of four participants.

Daily Schedule

7:45am Registration, meet & great, safety briefing

8:30am – 11am Start the forge and outline process and plan for day

11:00am – 12pm Lunch Break

12:00pm – 3:00pm Continue forging and complete project

3:00pm – 3:30pm Project wrap-up


• All participants must wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, long cotton

clothing, and steel cap boots.

• Fire extinguishers will be readily available and all participants will be briefed on

their use.

• First aid and medical kits will be accessible in the workshop at all times.

• Safe handling of tools and materials will be demonstrated and enforced.

• Work areas will be kept clean and free of trip hazards.

• All participants must follow instructor guidance and workshop rules at all times.

• Emergency evacuation procedures will be communicated during the safety

briefing.

Participant Requirements

• Participants must be at least 18 years of age.

• Participants are required to bring their own lunch and drinks.

o Water will be provided

• Participants must wear required PPE (long sleeves/pants/ steel cap boots).

o Safety glasses will be provided

• Maximum of 4 participants per session to ensure safety and individual instruction.
