Although the shortest day of the year has only just passed, Beekeepers Spring starts on 1 August on the mid-morth coast. There are a range of maintenance jobs to do in your apiary now as well as planning for the spring and summer season ahead.
Content
In this session we cover the basics of beekeeping with an emphasis on management for the coming spring and summer. We will look at hive health; requeening; spring flowers; when to harvest; weather impacts; pests and diseases; and maintenance and upgrade tasks to get done.
A light afternoon tea will be provided that will include an opportunity to taste a variety of local honeys.
Our presenter
Local beekeeper, Glenn Locke will be presenting this workshop. Glenn is a commercial beekeeper operating a number of apiaries in the mid-north coast.
