Bee Hotel and Seed Bomb Workshop
Celebrate Youth Week 2026 by getting creative and supporting healthy ecosystems for our solitary bees. Open to 8-15 Year olds.
Youth Week will run across NSW from 16-26 April 2026. As a part of the celebrations, Council encourages youth aged 8-15 to join Nature and Nurture for a hands-on creative arts and nature craft workshop where you will be guided to build a solitary bee hotel using recycled materials such as cardboard tubes, sticks, paper straws, newspaper, and other natural items.
Solitary bees play a vital role in pollination and maintaining biodiversity, supporting healthy ecosystems and food production. Protecting these quiet yet essential pollinators is critical for maintaining balance in our environment and ensuring future sustainability.
Participants will also have the opportunity to make a seed bomb to take home.
By combining art with environmental education, Nature and Nurture aim to empower young people to become custodians of nature while expressing themselves creatively.
Note: A parent or guardian must remain onsite throughout the event. Parents do not need to purchase a ticket to assist their participating child in the activities.
Any enquiries in relation to this workshop should be directed to Maitland.GreenCommunities@maitland.nsw.gov.au.
