About this event

BARAYAGAL Choir 2022 is directed by Nardi Simpson (Gamilaraay) along side Choir Master Kevin Hunt who was appointed head of Jazz and Improvised Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

The Barayagal Choir is a collective of community singers that gathers to sing songs of culture and stories. We welcome people who want to sing for the first time, and people who have been singing all their lives. In the choir rehearsals we workshop new songs about culture and enjoy a cup of tea and a yarn. This choir is for ALL.

1st Nations people and the staff & students of the Sydney Uni community sing Wednesdays 6.15pm-8.00pm at the Redfern Community Centre.

Barayagal perform at various cultural events and festivals during the year.

The choir is jointly administered by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Last Minute Productions and YARN Australia.

Register here and join us weekly at Redfern Community Centre.
