Flash can feel intimidating. Buttons everywhere, weird results, harsh light, or worse… nothing fires at all. Sound familiar?

After the huge success of our Back to Basics Macro class in 2025, I had loads of people asking for the same no-nonsense approach… but for flash. So here it is.

If you’ve got a flash sitting in your camera bag (or maybe Santa slipped one into your stocking 🎅), and you’re not really sure how to use it properly, this workshop is for you.

This is a small group, hands-on session where we slow things down and make flash finally make sense.

What you’ll learn

• How flash actually works (without the tech waffle)
• Manual vs TTL, when to use each and why
• On-camera vs off-camera flash basics
• Controlling power, direction and softness
• How to avoid harsh, “deer in headlights” light
• Simple setups you can repeat at home
