Autumn Textile Recycling Event
Overview

Come and recycle your worn-out clothes, old sheets, and other end-of-life textiles.

Date: Friday 17 April 2026

Location: Recreation Hall, Ground floor, Djerring Flemington Hub (Flemington Community Centre)

This event has two sessions: morning 9.30am - 12.00pm and afternoon 12.30pm - 3.00pm. Please attend the event within the time frame allocated on your ticket. We will not be accepting items between 12.00-12.30pm.

In 2025, textiles made up approximately 13% of contamination in Moonee Valley kerbside recycling bins. Did you know textiles aren’t recyclable in your kerbside recycling bin?

Recycle your textiles for free at our autumn textile recycling event.

By sending these items to specialist recyclers, the material can be reused to make new products. This keeps them in the circular economy — where resources are reused instead of wasted — and reduces the need for new materials.

Attendees must bring all items into the building, staff will not be accepting any items from the car park. Leaving any items in the public area will be considered illegal dumping. If assistance is required, please contact us prior to the event day via recycle@mvcc.vic.gov.au

Please refer to below image for what items are/not accepted.

Items that won't be accepted:

  • unclean textiles
  • underwear
  • non-textile material
  • donatable goods - please take these items to your local charity shop.

If incorrect items are brought to the event, staff have the right to refuse these items.
