About this event

Proudly led by the Southern Highlands Branch, Autumn House & Garden Inspections will give you exclusive access to stunning private properties in the Wingecarribee Shire, as part of the Australian Heritage Festival celebrations.

View three very interesting and different properties from Exeter to Sutton Forest to Moss Vale, including:

  • an early townhouse with more than 120 years of connection to Wingecarribee's settlers
  • a recent house-restoration and now with a plantswoman’s outstanding garden
  • an elegant house and garden with 80 km views to the Southern Tablelands

Itinerary

At our 10:30am rendezvous, just outside the historic village of Exeter, we begin our day with a delicious home-made Morning Tea on the verandah of the beautifully upgraded 50 year-old house featuring a fine collection of antique European furniture, artwork and decorative arts. The garden has old growth but its charm is in the massed display of smaller trees and shrubs in their autumn colours.

Our second property is at 12:15pm a short drive towards the small village of Sutton Forest. This substantial estate has spectacular distant views in multiple directions, across undulating farmland. The 20 year-old house shows a regency style with elegant 18th-19th century furniture and artworks.

Lunch at your leisure ... we recommend the variety of offerings in Moss Vale as our final house is right in town and opens from 2:30pm. It is a substantial Victorian townhouse with great provenance and now repurposed beautifully for a new productive life - an easy walk from our Moss Vale cafes.
