About this event

The Department of Communities is providing sessions about Supported Decision-Making under the Authorisation of Restrictive Practices in Funded Disability Services Policy (the Policy) (available on the Authorisation of Restrictive Practices website).

This session is for disability service providers and behaviour support practitioners who have completed an ARP Policy Overview Session.

This free 2-hour session will cover:

  • what is Supported Decision-Making in the context of the Policy
  • roles and responsibilities of providers and practitioners in supporting people with disability to make decisions
  • the importance of supporting a person to identify their preferences and make their voices heard
  • how best to support a person to make choices and decisions about what supports they need in their life including when restrictive practices are used
  • case scenario to apply thinking in the space of Supported Decision-Making.

This session is interactive and will include group discussions.

The session will be facilitated via the Microsoft Teams online meeting platform.
