Author talk with Sue Wiliams - Batemans Bay Library
Celebrate International Women’s Day with us. Discover the bestselling author of historical fiction, Sue Williams.
Celebrate International Women’s Day with us and come along to an author talk with bestselling historical fiction author Sue Williams.
Author and award-winning Journalist Sue Williams talks about her latest book, The Duke's Secret, a novel based on a family secret that spans two centuries and a truth that could rewrite history.
It centres on a young maid in the household of the Duke of Wellington, hailed as 'the hero of the world' after vanquishing Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo, who has a child, with the father never named, but popularly believed to be the Iron Duke.
The story is based on Sue's own family, and a legend passed down through five generations.
Sue has written three other best-selling historical novels, all based on Australian colonial history: Elizabeth & Elizabeth, That Bligh Girl and The Governor, His Wife and His Mistress. She is the author of 30 other non-fiction books, including Run for Your Life, about a family hiding out on Australia's remote Dampier Peninsula to evade their Russian pursuers, Healing Lives, about Australian doctor Catherine Hamline and her Ethiopian protege Mamitu Gashe, and biographies of Father Bob Maguire, Father Chris Riley and shark attack survivor Paul de Gelder.
Come along for a fascinating evening with Sue. Light refreshments will be served and Sue’s books will be available for purchase.
