Overview

Get hands-on with Aussie native plants and create your own bonsai masterpiece at this enjoyable and informative workshop.

Select a tree from the Botanic Garden stock of local indigenous plants and start its journey to become your treasured bonsai. You will be guided by skilled bonsai grower, Ernie, who began creating bonsai nearly 30 years ago. He will be ably assisted in the workshop by his wife Jill, who has become very experienced herself! Topics covered include horticultural and artistic aspects of bonsai, appropriate soils and pots, as well as tools and techniques. They will also tell you all about a local group of bonsai enthusiasts who meet once a month and can help foster and support your new-found passion.
