Australian Fatherhood Research Symposium 2026

Deakin DowntownMelbourne, VIC
May 7 at 8:45 am to May 8 at 5 pm AEST
Overview

The eleventh Annual Symposium on Fatherhood Research in Australia - advancing the science of fatherhood

Welcome to the 2026 Australian Fatherhood Research Symposium, the foremost event for fatherhood researchers, practitioners and policy makers.

The symposium is an annual opportunity for researchers to build and consolidate collaborations with other researchers and practitioners who work with fathers. The event is hosted by Deakin University (SEED Lifespan Strategic Research Centre). A range of disciplines are represented.

Join us for a Keynote presentation by Associate Professor Zac Seidler and snapshot summaries that showcase research and father-inclusive programs from around Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The symposium is organised by the Australian Fatherhood Research Consortium, which seeks to advance the science of fatherhood; inform practice and policy that supports men and their families; and, promote healthy inclusion of fathers in family life.

We invite you to join us to build effective collaborations so that we may further the evidence base on fathering.

This year's symposium will be a hybrid event, held at Deakin Downtown in Melbourne, and Online via Zoom. Participants can register to attend the event either in person or online via zoom. We are offering concession rates for students.

You can find out more on the AFRS webpage.
