Description

Australia has one of the most diverse wine scenes in the world. Quite simply, there’s nothing like it. With more than 100 grape varieties grown across 65 wine regions, our wines are an expression of the distinctive terroirs and vibrant communities that cultivate them.

Running for over 30 years, this annual tasting is the biggest, brightest and most diverse showcase of Australian wine in the UK.

  • 1000+ wines from 200+ producers
  • Regional master classes on Mornington Peninsula and Beechworth
  • Inspirational Australia by Ronan Sayburn MS – standout wines from Ronan’s trip to Australia
  • Focus room on bright, smashable, crunchy reds
  • Australian Wine Discovered education lounge
  • Producers in market and seeking distribution
  • Aussie pop-up café by Brickwood Coffee & Bread

Taste crisp vibrant whites, standout sparklings, elegant reds and thrilling alternative varieties. From the rogue to the refined, you’ll discover Australian wines that are far from ordinary.

This is your opportunity to meet the people behind the wines. A number of winemakers and winery owners will be flying over from Australia to pour their wines and share their stories.

You are also invited to attend one of our three master classes, led by industry experts and winery principals. Explore a diverse range of wines and gain insight into Australia’s unique styles and regions. You don’t need to register in advance, simply head to the master class area at least fifteen minutes before the start time. Places are on a first-come first-served basis.

12noon - 1pm The diversity of Beechworth

Presented by Julian Castagna (winemaker at Castagna) and Keppell Smith (winemaker at Savaterre)

Beechworth lies at the foothills of the Victorian Alps, about three hours north east of Melbourne. The Beechworth wine region was built on a spirit of innovation, today its wines are unique and exciting. It’s a region where small, family-run vineyards and artisanal winemakers produce premium, cooler-climate wines - both white and red - from an unusually high number of different varieties. In this master class you’ll discover some of the region’s best wines from both iconic producers and emerging stars. The line-up includes a mix of grape varieties and different styles, from Chardonnay and Shiraz to Nebbiolo and Sangiovese. This is the first-ever Beechworth master class at our long-running Australia Trade Tasting. Don’t miss it! This is your chance to explore the quality and diversity of wines from this tiny region.

2pm - 3pm Inspirational Australia by Ronan Sayburn MS

Presented by Ronan Sayburn MS

Ronan Sayburn MS is Head of Wine at private members club 67 Pall Mall in London. He has been involved in the wine business for nearly 20 years, having worked at a number of prestigious restaurants and hotels including Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons, Pied à Terre, the Gordon Ramsay group and Dorchester Collection UK. Ronan will be sharing the wines, which inspired him the most during his recent trip to Australia. Join him on a journey through the vineyards, hearing the stories and exploring the standout wines from his visit. The wines showcase cool climate regions such as Yarra Valley, Margaret River and Tasmania and alternative varieties such as Fiano, Grenache and Gamay.

4pm - 5pm Mornington Peninsula – Australia’s Pinot Coast

Presented by Martin Spedding (owner of Ten Minutes by Tractor)

Separating the waters of Western Port and Port Phillip Bay, Mornington Peninsula thrusts its heel into the turbulence of Bass Strait. Here, winemakers capture the region’s wilful ways and produce some of the country’s finest Pinot Noirs – they’re fresh, layered and captivating. From the gentle undulating countryside of the north, through the rich fertile wooded uplands tumbling down to the southern plains, the happy coincidence of late ripening and a prolonged, gentle autumn results in grapes with intense flavours, high natural acidity and fine tannins. Explore eight Pinot Noirs from this beautiful region, made by a combination of powerhouse pioneers, legends and the ‘next-generation’.

We're delighted to welcome back our friends at Brickwood Coffee & Bread. They’ll be running an Australian pop-up café with a selection of tasty, unique Australian treats.
