Recorder player Larli Davies leads you on a journey through sound-worlds from Ancient Greece to modern Melbourne

The Base Health and Community

"Atmos" is a journey through worlds and soundscapes. The clear, flexible tone of the recorder, often in conversation with rigid electronic sound, leads the way on a journey through musical atmospheres, some unfamiliar and bizarre, and others meditative and inspiring.Aside from sharing this musical journey, the purpose of this recital is to extend gratitude to the community who have supported my career and studies from back home over the years with some good music. Everyone is welcome to stay around afterward and have a chat! 📍 The venue:The Base Health is a mental health and community centre in a converted church in central Newcastle. It is within walking distance of the Newcastle Interchange (where trains from Sydney, Maitland, and Dungog terminate), and there is quiet on-street parking nearby. 🎟️ Tickets:Tickets are offered on a "pay what you can" basis to ensure accessibility. Any proceeds will go toward the costs of running this event and helping me begin my Masters in September. 🎶 About Larli:Growing up in the Dungog and Maitland areas, emerging recorder-player Larli Davies is making a name for herself in London's music scene as a skilled performer and specialist in the fields of new and contemporary music. In July of 2025, she graduated with First Class Honours from the Royal College of Music, where she held a prestigious David Laing Scholarship, and studied under the expertise of Sarah Jeffery, Maria Martinez-Ayerza, Ashley Solomon, and Tabea Debus. After graduating, she returned to Maitland to spend time with her family and improve her financial situation, returning briefly to London in late 2025 to premier a new concert series and take part in a multidisciplinary collaboration. While 2026 has been a quiet year, she has contributed pre-recorded sound for new compositions and founded a groundbreaking arts initiative, Zoppa, which aims to amplify Disabled musicians. In September she plans to return to London to take up a postgrad scholarship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She hopes to have a rich and rewarding career that allows her to continue living in London, while also giving her scope to work at home in Australia, in particular, sharing new music with regional Australians like herself. You can find out more about her work on her website, youtube, or by following her on Instagram.
