BTLawyers is pleased to present the next ASIEQ Workshop.

We all know the importance of having a strong safety culture in the workplace, but what does it really mean and how can employers create it? This workshop will focus on safety culture trends, reducing injuries, what classifies as a notifiable incident and an inspector’s role when a notifiable incident occurs.

The event will be presented by Inspectors from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.

Kerry Cowling is a Principal Inspector of Ergonomics. She has worked for 20 years in the work, health and safety arena. Kerry coordinates and delivers workshops on hazardous manual tasks and PErforM. Kerry will also be familiar to businesses and professionals, as she is the coordinator for the regional meetings of Sunshine Coast Area Network for Work Health and Safety (SCAN4WHS).

Carmel Cheers is a Senior Inspector with almost 30 years’ experience in the safety industry. Her role has been in fields including metal manufacturing, construction and community health and she’s worked in locations as varied as power stations, underground mines and cargo ships.

The event will be hosted by BTLawyers’ Senior Associate Samantha Abbott. Samantha practices as an insurance lawyer and specialises in workers compensation law. Samantha has a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety which provides her with unique insights into the management of workers compensation claims and advice on how employers can prevent incidents through the development of safety procedures, risk management processes and safe systems of work.

BTLawyers is a fast-growing Queensland law firm of bold, balanced and brilliant thinkers.

To us, being a leading firm is more than just a buzzword. Since 2016, we have been recognised as a Tier 1 Queensland Workers Compensation (Defendant) Law Firm by Doyle’s Guide.

BTLawyers was started by Bruce Thomas in 2002. Having worked in big law firms, Bruce knew there was an opportunity to deliver a different, more personal experience for his clients – an experience based on trust, creative thinking, and a fixed fee pricing model to give clients peace of mind when it comes to their legal spend. So he left the big firms and started out on his own.

Over the last 17 years our business has grown and our services today encompass insurance, business, personal and family law.

Whether you’re an individual, small business, or leading Australian corporation, BTLawyers is your best defence because we’re not here to start fights, we’re here to finish them.
