DESCRIPTION
Australia will host the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in March 2018, focused on enhancing regional security and prosperity. This is the first time that Australia will host a meeting of ASEAN leaders. 
In the week leading up to the Special Summit, AUSTRAC will run the first ASEAN-Australia Codeathon, to deepen collaboration between financial intelligence units (FIUs), banks, developers and other partners in the region to counter terrorism financing and enhance cyber security. 
The Codeathon is hosted by AUSTRAC on March 14 to 16, 2018 in Sydney and the Award Ceremony will be held early on Friday, 16 March 2018.
On Friday 16 March, the Minister for Law Enforcement and Cyber Security, the Hon Angus Taylor MP, will announce the Codeathon event winners.
CODEATHON THEME 
Participants will solve complex challenges focused on the theme of ‘Leveraging innovation to combat money laundering, terrorism financing and cyber risks’. The most innovative solutions could be operationalised by financial intelligence units and law enforcement agencies to overcome current challenges in following the money trail of criminal syndicates around the region.
