Join Sophia Lee Georgas for an artist talk at 5:30pm Friday 14 June 2024 prior to the opening of her exhibtion Exalt and Kuba Dorabialski: Crying
Through expansive painting and installation Sophia Lee Georgas explores the spatial and ephemeral qualities of religious architecture, and material representations of utopia in art and religion. Following her residency at the British School in Rome in late 2023, Exalt presents a new series of paintings and an installation that look for the possibilities for the creation of otherworldly dimension. And in doing so, Exalt aims to immerse the viewer, and “lift up” a more profound consciousness or transcendent feeling within oneself.
Sophia Lee Georgas is the 2024 recipeint of The Seed, a partnership between Orange Regional Gallery and the National Art School (NAS) which offers recent NAS graduates their first solo exhibition in a public institution.
