ARTIST TALK | Carlos Barrios 'Heart Songs'

Mitchell Fine ArtFortitude Valley, QLD
Saturday, Feb 28 from 2 pm to 3 pm AEST
Overview

Mitchell Fine Art invites you to join Carlos Barrios and Director Mike Mitchell to discuss his solo exhibition, 'Heart Songs'.

Carlos Barrios returns to Mitchell Fine Art with solo exhibition, Heart Songs a series that brings together a collection of artworks spanning decades of Barrios’ practice that are a combination of his primal relationship to art-making.

Join Carlos Barrios and Director Mike Mitchell in the gallery on Saturday 28 February, 2 - 3pm for an Artist Talk to discuss his newest solo exhibition.
** All events are free, no RSVP's required.

Expressed as his “heart’s songs”, the works characterise Barrios’ creative practice through invocations of love, soulfulness and melancholy.

Raised in El Salvador, Central America and the son of an archaeologist, Barrios was introduced to the art and artefacts of ancient cultures at a young age. This vital and transportive force felt when observing these artefacts and sites informs Barrios’ life-affirming outlooks, which are held strong despite witnessing atrocities during the decade-long Salvadoran civil war.

Creating art is a reflexive and indispensable element of living itself for Barrios. Through a heartfelt display, Barrios hopes to share this transformative capacity of art and life.
