Art Workshop: Cyanotype Printmaking with Leigh Penton

Rusten House Art CentreQueanbeyan, NSW
Tuesday, Jan 20, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm AEDT
Overview

Work with foliage, stencils and photographic transparencies to produce 3 new cyanotype artworks to take home and admire.

Cyanotypes use UV light to create a silhouette image on a light-sensitive surface, like paper or fabric. Originally used for blueprints of buildings etc, artists have explored its potential and find that it is a quick and imaginative way to create prints.

In this workshop you will come to understand the process and create images on various papers and odd surfaces. You will work with foliage, stencils and photographic transparencies to produce 3 new artworks to take home and admire. No artistic prowess is required, the fun will be in the process and unexpected results.

This workshop is facillitated by Leigh Penton. Leigh is a Canberra based artist, working primarily in photography and printmaking. She has worked in the arts sector for over a decade, including arts education at the National Portrait Gallery, and has exhibited her work locally and internally.

The workshop is open to anyone keen to have a go. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/carer.

All materials are provided. This is a free event, however spaces are limited. Secure your spot by registering now.

If you have any access, or support requirements in order to participate fully, please let us know to ensure that we can arrange any reasonable adjustments. Contact: Cultural.Services@qprc.nsw.gov.au
