Arman - Zahra Foundation - Against Domestic Violence

Raised in Iran, Arman migrated to Australia with his immediate family in 1997 at the age of 10. He graduated from Louise Laybourne Smith School of Architecture & Design at UniSA in 2010 and currently runs his own design and construction firm. He is an Australian representative in the martial art of Taekwondo and enjoys giving back to the community through his local Rotary club.
In March 2010, Arman's mother Zahra was murdered by his abusive father at the Adelaide Convention Centre in front of 300 people. Arman is now a White Ribbon Ambassador and an Our Watch ambassador who passionately advocates for better policies, procedures and legislation to protect women and their children. Arman has been named the 2016 Young South Australian of The Year. He is a member of the Adelaide White Ribbon Breakfast Committee, a co-founder of The Zahra Foundation Australia, established in honour of his late mother. He is also a board member for KWY (Kornar Winmil Yunti) Aboriginal Consultancy and Educating to End Violence Inc.
In the past few years Arman has been involved in a range of events and forums, which discuss men's behaviour, violence and abuse at home and in the workplace, and abusive and unhealthy relationships. Arman is also a regular speaker at SAPOL domestic violence cadet training. Arman has been a key influence in the SA state government's White Ribbon workplace accreditation process & has been a guest speaker at many white ribbon related events held by many state government departments.
