Event description

Description

Anxious Places Art Workshop is a two hour practical workshop with artist Ella Dreyfus. She guides you through a creative process exploring the idea of place, meaning and memories; and how personal and collective histories are attributed to certain locations at particular times.

You will be lead on a short tour of the National Art School, site of the old Darlinghurst Gaol, and participate in a creative workshop using photographs, writing and imagination.

The workshop is open to people of 12 years and over, and no experience in the arts is necessary.

The workshop is held alongside the exhibition Anxious Places for The Big Anxiety Festival.

Anxious Places Art Exhibition is Ella Dreyfus' exhibition of photographs depicting colourful, emotive words in anonymous suburban environments which reveal the language of childhood trauma in places where family tensions often remain shamefully concealed ‘behind closed doors’.

Anxious Places is exhibited in the Hoff Project Space, National Art School, Forbes Street, Darlinghurst, Sydney, and open to the public from 11:00am–5:00pm from 11 - 14 October, 2017 for the Big Anxiety Festival.
