The Western Australia Chinese Chamber of Commerce (WACCC) invites you to a networking evening featuring Mr Ky Cao, a pioneer and successful entrepreneur in independent power and renewable energy.

In 2000, Ky co-founded Perth Energy, the first independent power and gas gen-tailer in Western Australia. As the company's managing director, he grew the company from start up to $400 million annual turnover before retiring in 2016. During this period, he developed two gas and diesel power stations (120 MW and 82 MW), and a landfill gas power station in WA. Perth Energy is now part of AGL, Australia’s largest energy retailer.

In 2018, Ky teamed up with a local partner to develop a $70m 50MW solar farm in the Quang Tri Province of Vietnam. The project was successfully delivered to the Vietnam grid in 2019.

Ky was an advocate for the private sector in WA’s electricity industry deregulation. He set up and chaired the Independent Power Advisory Group in the early 2000s to work with government on market reform. He was also past recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Australia’s Western Region.

Ky will share his thoughts on electricity and renewable energy in Western Australia, and his journey in establishing successful businesses in Australia and Vietnam.
