Amazing Microbats at Byards Road Wetland, Happy Valley
A presentation and guided night walk at Byards Community Hall and Wetland on everything you wanted to know about Microbats.
Green Adelaide and the City of Onkaparinga would like to invite you to an evening to learn about our fascinating local microbats. These are the small bats that fly around our neighbourhoods and natural areas, often unnoticed and unheard. These small creatures have some amazing adaptations that help them live in their environment.
Come along and hear bat expert Harry Rust talk about these creatures, how they live, and learn some ways to identify them. After Harry’s presentation join us on a walk around Byards Road Wetland searching for bats, using a range of devices to make the bats calls audible to us. You will also see how different species have different call patterns.
Bring your torch and closed in walking footwear. Preferably wear light coloured clothing with long sleeved shirts and long pants and bring mosquito repellent as we will be at a wetland.
This event is specifically for residents of the City of Onkaparinga.
Numbers are limited, so get in quick to avoid missing out! All attendees, including children, must be registered to take part and will receive further information via email before the night. Bookings are essential.
This event is supported by Green Adelaide and Sustainable Onkaparinga and is part of our Onkaparinga Libraries Citizen Science Corner education - so head along to your local Library soon, to see how else you can help the environment!
