Session 1
Scalable Journey of AI in health care through the lens of algorithms to detect high risk heart patients in ED
The topic would be a conversation how to help in health care decisions using AI and the journey we took in this last year building two products focussed on AI in healthcare, the fundamental understanding of feature engineering in health care sector, data availability, challenges of NLP in AI, how went through solving and where to next to make AI successful in healthcare in Australia. What does it really mean to be a health Data Scientist today?
Speaker: Chetan Ganjihal | Data Scientist | Deloitte
Chetan is a Specialist Senior Manager at Deloitte, leading teams in building tools and products to solve problems using ML and AI. He has a Masters from National University of Singapore and has worked in industry verticals such as Customer Experience, Healthcare, Human Capital, Financial Services and Social. His current interest is using NLP techniques in bringing meaning, form and structure from text documents and make it more consumable to users.
Session 2
Causal models of brain function
Over the past two decades, imaging of brain function has emerged as the predominant technique in systems neuroscience. The talk will introduce non-expert audience to the state-of-the-art modelling techniques in imaging of brain function. In brief, it will show models of how different brain regions communicate with each other and argue that most mental illnesses can be postulated as `dysconnection syndromes'. It will focus on the application of dynamic causal modelling (DCM) to map brain function in health and disease. Adeel will discuss how understanding basic brain mechanisms using these modelling techniques can inform treatment of mental conditions like depression and anxiety. Example case study
Speaker: Dr. Adeel Razi | Principal Investigator, Computational and Systems Neuroscience Laboratory at MICCN & MBI
Adeel and his lab develop techniques for brain mapping in health and disease. His research interest is in modelling complex, multi-scale, network dynamics of brain structure and function using neuroimaging. Dr. Razi is a Senior Research Fellow, ARC DECRA Fellow and Principal Investigator of Computational and Systems Neuroscience Laboratory (http://www.adeelrazi.org) at the Monash Institute of Cognitive & Clinical Neuroscience and Monash Biomedical Imaging.
Session3
Using AI to detect abnormality in heartbeat
Cardiovascular diseases are one of the most common causes of death in the world. Prevention, knowledge of previous cases in the family, and early detection is the best strategy to reduce this fact. Different machine learning approaches to automatic diagnostic are being proposed to this task.
This talk presents a very basic overview of how today’s smart medical devices precisely stethoscope uses AI to detect irregular heartbeats and also identify related conditions.
Speaker: Amitesh Gaurav, Head of Engineering at CCLabs.ai
I completed my Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering from VTU, India and have been in IT industry for over 11 years. Previously employed with Samsung as Chief Engineer, I specialise in embedded software with knowledge and experience of Machine learning, Computer vision, Android and Robotics.
