About this event

This Cancer Research Network (CRN) symposium will highlight emerging issues on AI in healthcare focusing on AI-related work and its potential applications in cancer care. We will hear from experienced researchers exploring various aspects of AI and showcase AI-related research from CRN’s early and mid- career researchers. Join in the discussion and networking opportunity with an included afternoon tea. Topics will include:

Professor Nehmat Houssami, NBCF Chair in Breast Cancer Prevention & NHMRC Leader Fellow; Daffodil Centre (joint venture with Cancer Council NSW) & School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine & Health.

Professor Jean Yang, Director of the Sydney Precision Data Science Centre; NHMRC Investigator Fellow; Integrative Systems and Modelling Theme Leader at the Charles Perkins Centre.

Keynote Speakers:

Professor Stacy Carter - Empirical Ethics in Health; Director, ACHEEV (Australian Centre for Health Engagement, Evidence and Values) University of Wollongong - will discuss Australian women’s judgements on AI for mammography screening.

Dr David Waddington - NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow at the Image X Institute in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney - will discuss how we have deployed AI-powered imaging tools to clinical systems and enabled radiotherapy treatments with improved accuracy.
