Description

Ageing with Purpose is a free public health initiative to promote healthy lifestyles in the older community by providing an awareness of strategies to reduce risk factors for psychological distress and memory disorders as we age. Presentations will highlight current research on ageing well and include strategies that can be incorporated into daily routines.

Opening Address: Michael Still: Chairman, SESLHD Board

Guest Speaker: Ita Buttrose AO OBE

Followed by a panel discussion led by Ita Buttrose with exemplars of positive ageing:

- Diana 'Bubbles' Fisher OAM

- Robina Beard OAM - 'Madge the Manicurist'

- Bill Bishop - 96 not out!

Being Me: Understanding and managing my mood in late life: A/Professor Chanaka Wijeratne

Being Heard: Communication and assertiveness in late life: Dr Karen Croot

Being Seen: Visibility in later life: Professor Henry Brodaty AO
