The City will be undertaking a series of age friendly community consultations with seniors, local services and groups and City of Kwinana staff. These conversations will inform the development of Kwinana’s first Age Friendly Action Plan and support the City’s application to join the World Health Organization’s Global Network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities.

What does “age friendly” mean?

An age friendly community is one where people of all ages can live safely, stay connected and remain active and involved as they age. The World Health Organization identifies eight key areas that influence how age friendly a community is, including outdoor spaces, transport, housing, social participation, access to information and community support.

Why seniors’ voices matter

The upcoming consultations provide an opportunity for seniors to:

  • Share what is working well in Kwinana
  • Identify challenges or gaps they experience as they age
  • Help set priorities for future planning, services and programs

Feedback will be used directly to shape the Age Friendly Action Plan and ensure it reflects the real experiences of seniors living in Kwinana.
