Event description

Description

After Suicide

A free community gathering aimed at providing information and support for those impacted by suicide

DATE: Thursday 18/7/19

TIME: 5:30pm-7:30pm
VENUE: Benetook Room, 190 Deakin Ave, Mildura

FACILITATED BY: Susan Vaughan (StandBy National Support After Suicide) and Lucinda Fraser (StandBy Murray Coordinator)

Suicide has a profound impact on the people left behind. Death by suicide has the potential to produce a markedly different type of grief from other kinds of losses.

Research indicates that around 135 people are exposed to each suicide death and ten or more are significantly affected. Individuals, families, friends, colleagues and whole communities can be impacted.

This gathering will explore the experience of traumatic loss, grief and the impact of suicide bereavement. Information on community supports and self-care will also be provided with an opportunity for questions, sharing and participation.

Staff will be in attendance for those wanting individual support.

An initiative of the Mildura Suicide Prevention Trial (2017-2020).
