Getting the Most Out of Your NDIS Plan - Information Session

The Disability Loop program at the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) has received funding support from the Victorian Government to run information sessions around Victoria that relate to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The information sessions are directly for people with disability and their families or carers and are called “Getting the Most Out of Your NDIS Plan”.

This session was written by people with disability, who are also NDIS participants. The presenter is also an NDIS participant. We believe these facts allow the session to better meet the needs of people with a lived experience of disability.

The purpose of the session is to help people with disability and their families and carers to better understand NDIS processes, options, their NDIS plan and how to get the most out of its implementation. In small, interactive groups, we will cover understanding your plan, how to find and work with service providers, options if you have concerns about your plan or when using it, how to prepare for your next plan and use your plan to live a better life in the community.

The NDIS is about people with disability so we encourage people with disability to come along. There will be opportunities for breaks and we aim to be as inclusive as possible. Importantly, these sessions are only for people with disability and their families or carers.

Getting the Most Out of Your NDIS Plan is a two and a half hour session, with a short break in the middle. During 2020, we will be running the session once in eight different areas across Victoria.

Included in the session is the provision of a take-home information pack which contains detailed, useful handouts about the NDIS.

Do I need to pay to attend the session?

These sessions are free for people with disability and their families or carers. People who don’t meet the criteria are not allowed to attend. If you are unsure, please contact AFDO Disability Loop first.

If your organisation would like to assist multiple people with disability and/or families to register, please contact AFDO Disability Loop on (03) 9662 3324, or email disabilityloop@afdo.org.au before registering.

Will AFDO Disability Loop provide accessibility supports?
