Topic : Establishing an Enterprise Architecture practice in a federated government environment
A conversation on challenges and opportunities in establishing an Enterprise Architecture practice in South Australian Government. While the South Australian public service has existed since the establishment of a parliamentary constitutional monarchy in 1856 introducing new practices into the institution has traditionally been fraught with resistance. How does a whole of government EA practice navigate the path of least resistance?
About Craig:
I provide leadership through the strategic development and maintenance of a technology roadmap for SA Government’s whole of government technology services, and enterprise architecture overview to optimise delivery of core services. I am also responsible for leading agency consultation and engagement to inform the technology roadmap so that the SA Government is informed of technology trends and capabilities, and supplier and vendor management to ensure SA Government gets the intended value from all contracts.
I have over 35 years of experience in ICT, starting from operating mainframes to designing and building systems that span datacentres, cloud services and untrusted end-user devices.
I have worked in a variety of industry sectors ranging from Government, finance and education through to private sector consulting and service provision.
I was brought up in an Air Force family and learned in early childhood that "if you are going to do something you better bloody do it properly" is an attitude that saves lives in the armed forces, and saves organisations in the Architecture space.
