Advanced MAT Course- TULLAMARINE
Join this workshop to learn how to map and seat complex bodies using custom solutions
Creating confidence in complex seating using the Mechanical Assessment Tool (MAT) outcomes – matching the equipment to the client.
Are we making the client fit the equipment OR the equipment fit the client? How do we make the equipment fit the client if we don’t know the “shape” of the client when seated? Are the choices we make to correct or accommodate one posture effecting the function of others? As clinicians, we learn a lot by completing a MAT assessment with our clients. The successful outcomes occur when we match our findings to seating systems in wheelchairs that promote tolerance and function.
Join us for a half day training to:
- Review systematic processes that support the MAT assessment
- Understand the impact of muscle tone on the MAT assessment process for the client
- Determine the differences between positioning for alignment vs functional reach vs position of rest/comfort vs functional swallow vs pressuring relieving; and why its important to include all positions in your MAT assessment process.
- Adjust wheelchair frames and seating systems to support common seated posture presentations
- Use case study examples of custom solutions with measurable outcomes to consolidate learning
