Overview

Finding communication tricky with the person you care for? Learn tips to make conversations easier and strengthen your relationship.

A 2–hour, free, online workshop for mental health carers.

Ever find it hard to connect with the person you care for? Knowing what to say—or how to say it—can feel difficult at times. This workshop will give you simple, effective tools to improve communication and build a stronger relationship.

You’ll learn about the L.E.A.P. method—Listen, Empathise, Agree, Partner—to help you connect in a positive way to reduce conflict. Developed by Dr. Xavier Amador, after his brother’s struggles with Schizophrenia and refusal of treatment, this method is a game changer (watch his TED talk “I’m Not Sick, I Don’t Need Help!”– https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXxytf6kfPM)

Join us to boost your confidence, gain practical skills and improve your relationship with the person you care for.

This session is designed specifically for family members, kin, young carers, friends and other individuals who support someone experiencing mental ill-health. We are a Queensland-based service.
